Snipsly Review

What is Snipsly?

Snipsly is a site to make money from your writing. They promote the site as a place for “crowdsourcing content” and turning that content into cash. In other words, they are a site that takes a lot of information from everybody and compiles it into one nice neat package of information. Basically, they are a site where you can either write complete articles or summaries with backlinks to the original article. I also see a lot of “articles” that are actually promotions for items, businesses, etc. You can even upload YouTube videos, pictures, etc. It seems like the format is as open and flexible as any site I have seen. The emphasis appears to be on the content rather on social networking; however, there is a community component to any site like this. You will find interesting information to read and then comment on.

The Best Things About Snipsly

Snipsly pays you a generous 80% of Google Adsense Revenue.  Actually, “generous” is my word, not theirs.  I do not know of any other sites that pay 80% though.  The way that works, is that their Google Adsense ID is displayed 20% of the time, and yours is displayed 80% of the time. The only negative would be that, if you do not already have accounts with Google Adsense, then you would have to apply and you could have a time lapse between application and being given an account number so that you can start earning.  The bottom line, though, is that if you are going to write online and try to earn money then you will need at least a Google Adsense ID anyway.  It is a must.

Snipsly lets you earn from Kontera, as well as from Google Adsense. Again, you will need to apply for a Kontera account if you do not already have one.  It is fairly quick to get accepted for one.

You retain ownership of your articles. That is especially important to many writers and Snipsly is very clear about the fact that your content is still yours.

One of the best things about Snipsly, though, is that all of the links are do follow backlinks.  All backlinks are good.  However no follow links will only direct traffic to you from the link itself.  It will not help out in search engine ranking or SEO.  Do follow links, such as the ones found on Snipsly, will help get your article URL further up to the top of the search engine results, thus, driving even more traffic back to you.

They are a fairly new site, but they already have a Google page rank of 3. Google gives page ranks of, well nothing, to a 10.  Theirs is 3/10 which is pretty good for how new they are.  They have moved up pretty quickly from a 1/10 to a 3/10.  The best site I have been on had an 8/10. Many sites where you can post articles have somewhere between a 3/10 and a 6/10.  However, there are many sites that do not even have a 1/10 yet.  So who cares? What dopes that mean to you?  The better the page rank of the site you put your backlink on, the mort importance Google places on that backlink. Backlinks on sites with a higher page rank will help you in search engine results more than backlinks on sites (say a blog) with a lower page rank or none at all.

Their articles are categorized and they have a really good breakdown of article categories.  Plus, when you publish they let you select more than one category.

You can list as many keywords for your article as you want to. It appears to be unlimited.  Many sites limit you to five keywords, for example.  Having the freedom of being able to list as many keywords as you want to helps your article out when people search for information related to it.

Write for Money

The Downside

Snipsly does not have an attractive front page.  I would like to see more of the articles on the front page and maybe a more attractive background so that it looks more professional to people who might go there just looking for specific information.

I, personally, would like to see more of a community aspect.  Maybe it is there and I just have not found it.  I love having forums on the sites I write for.  The forums let the writers connect.  Sure, they have to be monitored because some people are not always polite, but they are a great way to share.  From my experience, writers can share information that makes them better writers, helps them learn how to promote and make more money, etc.  They just seem to motivate writers to stick around and produce more.

Thanks for this review. I just signed up for Snipsly and yeah, the site doesn't really look attractive. It looks straightforward though. I guess more serious topics must be discussed there.

Just posted my first article there. I like the site for its simplicity and the fact they allow dofollow backlinks. The site just achieved a PR of 4 so it seems to climbing at a steady pace which is even better for backlinks
